Battle of the Brothas....

So it was bound to happen eventually.....two brothers....one with a rather large noggin....and one with teeth and a football in his hand. Flashback to flag football practice on Wednesday.....you know, that'd be the one their dad coaches...you know the one where the coach doesn't make them wear their MOUTH GUARDS to practice....you know the coach whose butt I kicked when I found out they don't wear MOUTH GUARDS to practice! Ahem, anyhoo, apparently they were running some offensive play that is designed to confuse the defense and cause them to run into each other so the running back can then run speedily down the sideline and glide into the end zone. Well, let me just tell ya...when you take a bunch of 10 year olds and have them practice a play that causes people to run into each other...guess what? People are going to run into each other. Hence we have the tooth of Jason inserting itself into the head of Jordan. Tooth came through like a champ...the head...well, that took the brunt of the injury. All is well, nothing a shower and some chewable Tylenol and an ice pack couldn't fix. However I can't help but think what would have prevented this injury in the first place.....A MOUTH GUARD! Sheesh! :)

World's Largest Corn Maze

In our ever growing quest to explore all that California has to offer; last weekend we headed to the 2007 Guiness World Record holder of the largest corn maze. Here are my thoughts on said corn maze.

  • It looks like every other corn maze

  • All corn mazes no matter where you are look the same

  • Corn, when wet, gets rather slimy and gross and adheres to your shoes like super corn glue

  • A giant corn maze is loads of fun the first 15 minutes then it tends to lose its luster

  • It was rather corny

  • Note to all future corn mazers: if you decide to split up your kids with your husband, make sure that each of you has water bottles and that not only one parent has all the fluids and snacks on a hot fall day....that is just cruel and unusual corn punishment

  • Further, ensure that each of you has a camera! Whoops! I am assuming that Jason and Jordan had fun....but frankly have no pictures to prove it!

All said, we had another great weekend!

Pumpkin Flashback

I was clicking through some old pictures and came across these from past pumpkin fun....too cute! Ahhh, almost makes me want to have some more babies......okay, I'm over it, whew glad that's over! But I enjoyed the memories....well, at least the haze of memories I do have from that crazy time of sleep deprivation! Check out Jack's hair!

Apple Hill

Ahhh, the joys of Christian education...we ALL had Thursday and Friday of this week off of school/work as the teachers were at an ACSI convention, and George W. said John boy could do the same so off we have headed for a weekend full of family fun. Thursday we headed up to Apple Hill, a collection of about 40 farms that neighbor each other along a beautiful scenic route. We enjoyed the scenery and the boys enjoyed a DVD......it was after all a three hour drive for goodness sake and we have been at this parenting thing long enough to realize that a DVD drive is a good drive! We're no dummys! We had a wonderful afternoon and scored the biggest apple pie this side of heaven....and for those of you coming for Thanksgiving you may as well stop eating now because we bought two-one for now and another that's in the freezer waiting for turkey time. At one of the farms we stopped at we went on a nature hike and the boys enjoyed throwing rotten apples at trees that quickly turned into their version of applesauce. MMmmmm, yummy....FYI we will not be serving rotten tree applesauce at Thanksgiving, in case you were wondering. Today was supposed to be Six Flags day but the rain foiled that one so JM took the boys to the movies and to the mall to check on the ESPN pool table at Sears they have been saving for.....$53 down.....$428 left to go...at this rate it may be a wedding gift. Hint, hint to any grandparents looking for a Christmas gift? Pool table, pool table, pool table....Donations can be sent to:

Pumpkin Palooza

We went to the Pumpkin Patch today. No better way to spend a fall day after church I am sure of it! The kids had a ball.....actually they had a pumpkin.....which I guess is just as much fun as having a ball....unless it's a baseball and then of course there is no way that a pumpkin is more fun. Anyhoo, I digress, ahem. We had fun and the kids got to do all sorts of activities and we managed to avoid folding the weeks laundry for a few more hours so it worked out well for everyone! Enjoy the pics!

Cereal, Waffles & a whole lot of SpongeBob

Four boys, six lunches and one dog feeding later and we manage to get out the door every morning by 6:45! I LOVE these boys! They may be messy at times and constantly smell like sweat socks but they are frankly just very, very cool. We have a very good morning routine going on right now...Woo-Hoo(insert happy mommy dance here)! We have approached mornings over the years in a variety of ways: no cartoons in the morning, cartoons in the morning, eat breakfast in the car, eat breakfast at home, don't eat breakfast at all because you hid your brother's shoe in the closet.... So now we have four that happily come downstairs at 6:15am woken up by the fact that their mother blares praise and worship music to wake them....who can be sleepy and crabby when we're praising the Lord at the crack of dawn! They are dressed and ready with their shoes on and they pull up a stool after selecting their breakfast while the waitress...that'd be me of course...sigh, if only there was a waitress...brings it to them and they watch SpongeBob which oddly enough makes them eat more since they are not sitting at the table half asleep with me fussing at them to eat faster we have to goooooo!!!! So yes, I am now in the mommy camp of cartoons in the morning, no TV at night until your homework is done(Little People Big World being a family fav in the evening, seriously good life lessons being learned there, you should check it out) and of course none of those evil video games until the weekend. They attempt to wear me down on that one, but I will not budge! (Check back for further posts to see if the foursome were successful in that venue and if they do I am a big wimp.)
